Bill McLean at the Carriage House at the Raney House Sept. 25, 5:30 p.m.

The Apalachicola Historical Society invites you to another chance to hear “The Story Of The Paddle wheel Boat” by Bill McLean.

Invitation:

Bill McLean saw a paddlewheel boat abandoned in the Ochlockonee River when he was a young boy vacationing in Florida in the years just after the Second World War.  Once he retired he became interested in researching the history of this enigmatic vessel.  On September 25 in the Carriage House at the Raney House, 128 Market Street in Apalachicola, Mr. McLean will recount his multi-year search for the origins of this vessel.  It was a fascinating journey, leading him to talk to people from Washington State to Maine to Florida.  His research revealed that the boat was built in Apalachicola.  The story of its early years and how it came to be abandoned in the Ochlockonee River is a fascinating story that you are sure to enjoy.  The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and is free to the public.
