I am not exactly sure of the date but I believe it to be somewhere around 1943. The road going into Spring Creek at that time was a dirt road and each week Brother Johnny Whaley would get to the intersection of Jack Crum Rd. and Spring Creek Road and on those weeks it had been raining he would take his shoes off, roll up his pants leg and go the last mile into Spring Creek bare footed. When he reached Spring Creek he would clean his feet off put his shoes back on. He then would hold church services on my grandparents front porch. (Wilmer and Hannah Dykes) That is until my husband’s grandfather Langston donated the property where the church now sits and of course a church was built. I have posted pictures of Brother Johnny and my great grand parents Forney and Susie Stevens on the historical website.

  3. You will have to send the picture via email to 24research@gmail.com. I
